It's not official yet but it appears you will have your choice of five or more candidates when it comes time to vote Feb. 27.

Wikipedia lists Colton Chaput of the Green Party, Vic Fedeli of the Progressive Conservatives, Loren Mick of the NDP and Michelle Lashbrook of the Libertarian Party so far. The last election in 2022 featured eight candidates.

The Liberal Party webpage lists Liam McGarry as its candidate locally but provides no information and no announcement has been made. The page also does not include a photo of McGarry, so he may be a parachute candidate. Calls and emails to the Liberal Party were not immediately returned.

However, he appears to be the son of Kathryn McGarry, a Liberal Executive Council Regional Vice-President, and a former MPP, and cabinet minister for Cambridge. Liam is one of her six children.

Lashbrook ran for the Libertarians in 2022 finishing seventh out of eight candidates with one per cent of the vote.

Prospective candidates wishing to file their candidate nomination paper must do so in person at a local election office by bringing one piece of government-issued photo ID no later than 2 p.m. February 13.

Find all the candidates at the Elections Ontario website.
