Ontario Greens Deputy Leader and candidate for Parry Sound-Muskoka Matt Richter yesterday received endorsements from community members who are former Liberal and NDP voters.
The party issued a news release detailing the endorsements.
“I grew up in an NDP household and I would describe myself as a fiscal conservative,” said Bonnie Duits. “I strongly believe that collaboration across parties is the only way to build good policy that works for everyone."
“I’m supporting Matt because Matt puts people before politics,” said Debbie Vernon. “His policies for Parry Sound-Muskoka are in line with what matters most to the people of this region. Ontario Greens work collaboratively with all political parties to create a better Ontario.”
“I used to vote NDP but nobody can match Matt,” said Leslie Hastings.
“I’m honoured to have these endorsements from hardworking members of our community,” said Richter. “Our Green movement brings folks together across political stripes – people who are tired of the status quo and ready for a government that’s going to put our rural and Northern communities first.”
Richter was also joined by Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner.
“The momentum of Matt’s campaign is so exciting to see,” said Schreiner. “I know from knocking on thousands of doors here that people are ready for change. Electing Matt is the only way to stop another Conservative seat and make that change happen.”
Today, Richter received endorsements from local healthcare leaders who support his plan to invest in rural healthcare.
“I’m here to endorse Matt because I’m here to advocate on behalf of my patients and my fellow family doctors,” said Dr. Tina Kapos, chair of the board of the Cottage Country Family Health Team and lead physician for the Cottage Country Health Network.
“I felt compelled to do this because of where our healthcare system is at. I believe that Matt is the person in this community – and that Greens are the party – to help us get through the crisis we’re facing.”
“Matt believes in health at not just a community and individual level but at an environmental level,” said Dr. Shannon Lees, a family physician in Parry Sound-Muskoka.
