Catholic candidates running for school board trustee positions are often in the shadow of their municipal counterparts but there will be a meet and greet available to voters seeking information.
On Tuesday October 4th, from 4-6:30 p.m. the candidates will gather at Churchill's Restaurant to meet the public and discuss issues. All candidates will be given the same amount of time to describe their platform on Catholic education and possibly answer questions.
"We're trying to make it a social too so the public can mingle with the candidates," Rick Belisle, the Ontario Teachers Federation Governor/President told BayToday.
The event will take place upstairs at the Loft.
"That way we can have some food, and people can talk because they are the elected officials. We're thinking of allowing each candidate five minutes to speak then if you had a specific question for one of the candidates, other candidates can answer if they wish to."
Meanwhile, the Holy Name of Jesus Parish at 895 Memorial Drive will be hosting a meet & greet on Wednesday, October 12 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
This will be an opportunity for members of the Catholic community and the community at large to get to know the issues.
