Tough opening day for North Bay schools at OFSAA AA Soccer

Round robin play wraps up Friday at the event hosted by Chippewa

It was a tough day on the pitch for both North Bay area schools participating in the OFSAA 'AA" Soccer Championships which are taking place at Steve Omischl Sports Complex, Cundari Field and Nipissing University this week. 

A total of 20 teams from across the province are competing in North Bay this week. 

The Chippewa Raiders, who are coming in as hosts and NOSSA champions dropped two games on Thursday falling 4-1 to L'Essor and 2-1 to King's Christian. 

Meantime, the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears dropped a pair of contests as well on Thursday, falling 4-0 to Courtice and 2-0 to Thousand Island. 

The Raiders are back on the field early this morning at 8 a.m. as they face St. Joan of Arc at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex. 

Chippewa will be back on the pitch at 11 a.m. to face Louis Riel ESP to round out their round robin play. 

The Bears are on the pitch at 11 a.m. as they face St. Paul's at Cundari Field and then play their final round robin contest against Monsignour Percy Johnson at 2 p.m. at Nipissing University.
