The spoons perform Friday night at the Capitol Centre

The band helped to define the sound of pop and New Wave in the ‘80s

An influential Canadian band formed in 1980, The Spoons from Burlington will perform at the Capitol Centre tonight at 7:30.

"So looking forward to returning to the Capitol Centre in North Bay Friday night," stated band member Gordon Deppelead vocals and guitarist. "Last time was all plexiglass and separated seating. This time we can party like it's 1985!"

"Together with Derrick Ross and Rob Preuss, Gord Deppe and Sandy Horne would help define the sound of pop and New Wave in the ‘80’s, with hits including Nova Heart, Romantic Traffic, Old Emotions, and Tell No Lies" says a news release.

 In 1983, they were nominated for Most Promising Group of the Year at the Juno Awards.

Their album “Arias & Symphonies” would go on to be named one of the 20 Most Influential Albums of The 80s by “The Chart” Magazine, and their song “Nova Heart” was recently included in Bob Mersereau’s book “The Top 100 Canadian Singles of All Time.”

Well the Spoons are still rockin’! This show will feature all the Spoons hits and fan favourites, as well as a few new songs, along with some great stories from the road!

On March 22, 2019, Spoons released the studio album, New Day New World, on CD, vinyl, and digital release via iTunes and SpotifyNew Day New World was the first studio project to be released by the Spoons in over eight years.
