Shooting suspect arrested on Lakeshore Drive

During the traffic stop dispatchers provided information, and through investigation, with the assistance of a second officer, it was determined that the passenger of the vehicle was wanted by Brantford Police for several firearms offences

A man wanted in connection with a shooting in Brantford was arrested during a traffic stop on Lakeshore Drive early yesterday morning.

Police arrested a 28-year-old Brantford man who was wanted for multiple firearms offences in the Brantford area.

At 2:45 a.m., a patrol officer stopped a vehicle near Fodor Street. Dispatchers provided information, and through investigation, with the assistance of a second officer, it was determined that Brantford Police wanted the passenger of the vehicle for several firearms offences, including a shooting in December 2023.

The passenger was taken to North Bay Police Service headquarters where arrangements were made for the accused to be taken back to Brantford, where he was held in custody for a bail hearing.
