The (NETC) Native Education & Training College is expanding once again and has opened a second location, at 294 Main Street East, as its new apprenticeship trade centre for entry-level carpentry, plumbing, electrician, and welding etc., that will offer skills-based hands-on training. NETC will sponsor the apprentice in apprenticeship sign-up, registration and support the apprentices in between jobs as he works toward banking his/her hours to achieve their certificate of qualification. Apprentices will work under a licensed journeymen for 4 months, and then are placed in field placement with local contractors to continue their on-the-job training. Apprenticeship training is 10% theory and 90% practical hands on. Apprentices who are entrepreneurs, will have full access to the trade centre during their career’s, as they build there perspective trade contractor businesses.
The trade centre has start dates every Monday and will run two shifts from 7 to 3 and 3 to 11 Monday through Friday and one day shift on Saturday and has open enrollments to all peoples.
