Voyageur Days, Carnaval get government funding

Experience Ontario 2024 will spend $110,000 to support two events in Nipissing.

MPP Vic Fedeli says it will attract visitors to Mattawa and North Bay and increase our local economy.” 

  • $55,000 for Les Compagnons for the 62nd Carnaval des Compagnons in February 2025.
  • $55,000 for Mattawa for the 25th Mattawa Voyageur Days in July 2024.

“The Voyageur Days 25th anniversary team has been hard at work planning and ensuring that this year’s festival is safe and enjoyable for all," says Raymond Belanger, mayor of Mattawa.

The festival attracts tourists from across the province to Mattawa says a release. It features free daytime activities to enjoy and Canadian musicians for the evenings. 

"We will be able to offer an enriching experience to our community and attract new visitors," says Arnaud Claude, Director. "We are eager to share with the community our programming for this 62nd Carnival, which promises to be an unforgettable celebration of our culture and heritage.”
