UPDATE Well known rocker Sab passes away

Well known Northern Ontario Rock n' Roll legend Peter "Sab" Sabourin has passed away. The former North Bay area resident who was living in Pembroke, was the well known lead singer of Sab and the family band.

The former North Bay area resident who was living in Pembroke, was the well known lead singer of Sab and the family band.  

Sab was well known in the North for his charity work that he did through his music.  

He toured with music legends such as Ronnie Hawkins, Kris Kristopherson, Dr. Hook, April Wine, Trooper, Jeff Healey, and The Downchild Blues Band, just to name a few according to his website.  

Brent Ogletree played the drums with Sab and the Family Band for well over a decade.  He says his friend battled cancer for nearly 9 years.   

"He was tough as nails, we will miss him every day," Ogletree said on Wednesday morning. 

"‎His hard work and true dedication to music allowed myself and countless other musicians to flourish, past members include Darren  Smith (drummer for Harem Scarem, singer for Red Dragon Cartell), Tony Silvestri  (Glorious Sons, keyboards) , and Jason Blaine ( #1 hit Canadian Country artist)," added Ogletree about Sab. 

"He gave to countless charities and wore his heart on his sleeve." 

Sab, turned 51 on March 31st.
