The Near North District School Board (NNDSB) has closed all school playgrounds and other amenities, including sports fields and access to school board property until further notice.
Board officials say although playgrounds and other amenities are an important part of our communities, they are following the advice of health professionals and Province of Ontario orders concerning the need for physical distancing to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
"Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to maintain the health and safety of our communities," the NNDSB release continues.
The City of North Bay has closed all its municipal playgrounds and outdoor exercise equipment as well to help reduce the potential exposure to COVID-19.
