Mother Nature was in a bad mood this spring...lots of rain, and that has delayed the opening of a popular local waterfront attraction.

“Due to the inclement weather in April and early May, it has affected the Heritage Railway and Carousel Company’s spring maintenance programme," says Don Coutts, manager of odds and ends.

"As such we will not be opening this coming weekend, Saturday, May 11 and Sunday the 12th,"

The tourist attraction operated by volunteers expects to open on the Victoria Day weekend from 10 a.m. TO Dusk each day, weather permitting.

We will be open Saturdays and Sundays to the end of June when starting Monday. June 24 we will be open seven days a week from 10 a/m to dusk until thhe Labour Day Monday, September 2.

Rain and cold weather in the last two weeks of April also delayed the opening last year which resulted in the spring clean-up of the HRCC being delayed. Weather also closed the attraction for a couple of days last summer during a heat wave,

"The Heritage Railway and Carousel Company looks forward to seeing everyone of all ages this coming year,” adds Coutts.
