Mayor Peter Chirico offers condolences to Councillor Chris Mayne for the passing of his mother, Daphne Mayne.

It had been four weeks between regular meetings of North Bay City Council and the City of North Bay lost several notable community members in that time.

Mayor Peter Chirico led Tuesday evening's meeting by recognizing the passing of former Fire Chief Ted McCullough, "Mr. Downtown" Ralph Diegel, and former council member and entrepreneur Daphne Mayne.

Councillor Chris Mayne, Daphne's son, was present in the council chambers as Mayor Chirico offered condolences on behalf of the council.

"I'd like to extend council's condolences on the loss of your mother over the weekend," Chirico said to Mayne. "Certainly, Daphne will be missed by all and her contributions to these chambers over the years and her dedication to downtown, we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to you and your family."
