Battalion celebrate one of eight goals Sunday in game 6.

For the second year in a row, the North Bay Battalion will play a game 7 in the Eastern Conference Final.

Last year, the Troops fell 3-2 in game 7 against the eventual OHL champion Peterborough Petes.

"It was May 8, 2023," said Ryan Oulahen, Battalion head coach.

"I have thought about that night every single day since today and to think that especially the way we were down in this series and what we have gone through in the playoffs, we get to redeem ourselves, or a chance to on Monday, I mean that is incredible.

"I know these guys are pretty excited and to be able to rely on those experiences and talk about the moment; how you are going to feel it is pretty cool to have that and I am sure these guys are going to rally around that."

The North Bay Battalion will be looking to go into the history books as the sixth team in OHL history to come back from a 3-0 series deficit in an OHL Playoff series.

The last team to do it was the Guelph Storm in 2019 as they came back in round two from a 3-0 deficit to beat the London Knights.

The Battalion forced game 7 tonight in Oshawa courtesy of an impressive 8-1 performance over a tired-looking Oshawa Generals squad Sunday afternoon at Memorial Gardens.

"We are relentless, again our backs are against the wall, we had the home crowd and we were energized and ready to go," Ryan Oulahen, Battalion head coach stated about the convincing win to even the series at 3-3.

OHL 3-0 comebacks

  • 2019 Guelph Storm (Round 2 vs. London)
  • 2014 Peterborough Petes (Round 1 vs. Kingston)
  • 2010 Windsor Spitfires (WC Final vs. Kitchener)
  • 2005 Windsor Spitfires (Round 1 vs. Sault Ste. Marie)
  • 1988 Ottawa 67's (Round 1 vs. Oshawa)

Owen Van Steensel who had 2 goals and 2 assists to lead the Battalion to Sunday's game 6 win, cannot wait for the puck to drop tonight in Oshawa.

"We are excited for it, it is another opportunity," said Van Steensel during the post game media conference Sunday.

"We are looking to come play our best. They are going to have their best too obviously in their building it is going to be a little different than in here. We need to have a strong start to take the crowd out of it and play our game."
