Imitation gun, drugs seized after drunk driver complaint

A search of the vehicle located an air pistol, drug paraphernalia, and drugs suspected to be, cannabis, Fentanyl, and methamphetamine

Police arrested and charged two people with weapons and drug-related offences after a traffic complaint.

Early on May 4, around 5 a.m., Nipissing West OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Front Street, West Nipissing.

As a result of the investigation, two people were arrested.

A search of the vehicle found an air pistol, drug paraphernalia and drugs suspected to be, cannabis, Fentanyl, and methamphetamine.

Gabrielle Baronette, 24, and Tristan Bertrand, 28, both from West Nipissing, are charged with:

  • Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking

Baronette was further charged with driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available.

Both were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6 in North Bay.
